Troubleshooting Guide: Microsoft Edge Won’t Open

If you’re experiencing the frustrating issue of Microsoft Edge not opening, you’re not alone. Many users have encountered this problem and struggled to find a solution. But fear not, we have prepared a troubleshooting guide to help you resolve this issue and get back to browsing without any delays.

Clear Browser Cache

One of the common reasons why Microsoft Edge won’t open is a corrupted cache. To fix this, you need to clear the browser cache. Follow these steps:

  1. Click on the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the browser window.
  2. Select Settings from the drop-down menu.
  3. In the Settings menu, scroll down and click on Privacy, search, and services.
  4. Under the Clear browsing data section, click on Choose what to clear.
  5. Check the boxes next to Browsing history, Cookies and other site data, and Cached images and files.
  6. Click on the Clear button.

Disable Extensions

Extensions can sometimes interfere with the functioning of Microsoft Edge and cause it not to open. To troubleshoot this issue, try disabling all extensions and then check if Edge opens. Follow these steps:

  1. Click on the three-dot menu and select Extensions.
  2. On the Extensions page, toggle off the switch next to each extension to disable them.
  3. Restart Microsoft Edge and see if it opens.

Reset Microsoft Edge

If clearing the cache and disabling extensions didn’t solve the problem, you might need to reset Microsoft Edge to its default settings. Here’s how:

  1. Open the Run dialog box by pressing the Windows key + R.
  2. Type ‘inetcpl.cpl’ and hit Enter.
  3. In the Internet Properties window, go to the Advanced tab.
  4. Click on the Reset button.
  5. Check the box that says ‘Delete personal settings’ and click on Reset.
  6. Restart your computer and open Microsoft Edge to see if it opens without any issues.

If none of the above solutions worked, you may need to consider reinstalling Microsoft Edge or using an alternative browser until the issue is resolved.

Hopefully, one of these troubleshooting methods helped you fix the problem of Microsoft Edge not opening. Remember to always keep your browser and system updated to avoid such issues in the future.
